Amazon Referral Fees and FBA Fees in 2026
Every product you sell on Amazon pays two kinds of fees: a referral fee on each sale and, if you use FBA, the fulfillment fees. In most categories the referral fee is %15 of the sale price; FBA fees depend on the product’s size, weight and price. This guide gives the full 2026 referral fee table for amazon.com (US), explains what changed in FBA fees this year, and shows how to build a price with all of them in.
What changed in 2026
- 15 January 2026: referral fees unchanged, FBA fees up. Amazon’s announcement of 15 October 2025 says FBA fees rose by an average of $0.08 per unit sold, which Amazon puts at less than %0.5 of an average item’s price. No increase to category referral rates was announced, and no new FBA fee types were added for 2026.
- 17 April 2026: a %3.5 fuel and logistics surcharge. Amazon’s Seller Central notice adds %3.5 to FBA fulfillment fees in the US and Canada. It is charged on the fulfillment fee, not the sale price, and does not touch referral fees. Amazon calls it temporary but has given no end date.
- 15 October 2026 – 14 January 2027: holiday peak fees. According to Amazon, FBA fulfillment fees in this window average $0.32 per unit above the non-peak rate (the same increase as last year), and the %3.5 surcharge applies on top of the peak rate.
How the referral fee is calculated
The referral fee is a percentage of the item’s total sales price, which Amazon defines as the list price plus shipping and any gift-wrapping charges. Most categories also have a minimum referral fee: you pay the percentage or the minimum, whichever is greater. Amazon’s table uses three mechanics:
- One rate. Home and Kitchen is %15 at any price. %15 of a $1.50 item is $0.23, but the minimum is $0.30, so you pay $0.30.
- A rate by price band. In Beauty and Baby, a product priced at $10 or less pays %8 and one above $10 pays %15 on the whole price. A $9.99 cream pays $0.80; raise it to $10.49 and it pays $1.57. Fifty cents more on the price costs 77 cents more in fees, so just above the $10 line can earn less than just below it. Clothing’s $15 and $20 lines work the same way.
- A rate by slice. In Electronics Accessories, %15 applies to the part of the price up to $100 and %8 to the part above it. A $150 item pays 15.00 + 4.00 = $19.00. Furniture, Jewelry, Watches and Compact Appliances are calculated the same way.
The rate follows the product’s category on Amazon; moving a product to a cheaper category is not an option. Seller Central’s fee preview shows which rate Amazon applies to your product.

The fees that sit beside the referral fee
| Fee | When is it charged? | What does it depend on? |
|---|---|---|
| FBA fulfillment fee | On every unit shipped by FBA | Size tier, weight and price band; a lower Low-Price FBA rate for products under $10 |
| Fuel and logistics surcharge | Since 17 April 2026, in the US and Canada | %3.5 of the fulfillment fee |
| Monthly storage | Every month, on FBA stock | The stock’s daily average volume (cubic feet); higher in October–December |
| Aged inventory surcharge | Monthly | Stock stored more than 181 days |
| Low-inventory-level fee | When stock runs low against demand | Stock level and sales rate |
| Inbound placement service | When you send stock to Amazon | Standard and large bulky products; the placement option you choose |
| Returns processing fee | On orders where Amazon provides free return shipping | Product and category |
| Refund administration fee | On a refunded sale | %20 of the referral fee or $5, whichever is less |
| Removal and disposal | When you remove stock or have it disposed of | Per unit |
| Advertising (optional) | Per click | Bid and competition |
You find the per-unit amounts of FBA fees through the links on Amazon’s FBA page, in the Revenue Calculator or in the Fee Preview report in Seller Central; Amazon said it loaded the 2026 rates into these tools. The full fee schedule is in Seller Central (sign-in required). The full profit calculation with every fee is worked through in the profit margin guide.
Example: one product’s 2026 fees
The figures come from a made-up product in VeraMargin’s demo store: a 3-piece bamboo cutting board set in Home and Kitchen. The price, cost and FBA fee are the demo store’s; the surcharge and peak lines follow the 2026 rules.
| Item | Non-peak | Holiday peak |
|---|---|---|
| Sale price | +$34.99 | +$34.99 |
| Referral fee (%15) | −$5.25 | −$5.25 |
| FBA fulfillment fee (demo; peak adds Amazon’s average $0.32) | −$6.10 | −$6.42 |
| Fuel and logistics surcharge (%3.5) | −$0.21 | −$0.22 |
| Product cost | −$9.80 | −$9.80 |
| Net profit (before storage and ads) | +$13.63 | +$13.30 |
| Margin | %39.0 | %38.0 |
The peak rate and the surcharge take 33 cents a unit from this product; on something that sells dozens a day, that shows in the month’s total. $0.32 is Amazon’s average; the increase on your own product depends on its size tier, weight and price band.
If this sale is refunded, Amazon returns the referral fee but keeps a refund administration fee: %20 of $5.25, which is $1.05 (less than the $5 cap). If the unit does not come back sellable, you lose its cost as well.
Setting your price with the fees built in
Build the price as “cost plus the profit I want” and the referral fee quietly eats the target. Because the fee is a share of the price, work backwards:
Floor price = (product cost + FBA fee + surcharge + other per-unit costs) ÷ (1 − referral rate − target margin)
For the bamboo board, per-unit costs are 9.80 + 6.10 + 0.21 = $16.11. With a %15 referral rate and a %30 target margin, the floor price is 16.11 ÷ (1 − 0.15 − 0.30) = $29.29. At that price the referral fee is $4.39, net profit $8.79 and margin exactly %30. Two cautions: if the price crosses a band (Beauty’s $10, Clothing’s $15 and $20), the referral rate changes; and because the FBA fee depends on the price band, check it again at the new price.
Where to see your own product’s fees
- Before you sell: Amazon’s Revenue Calculator and the Fee Preview report in Seller Central. VeraMargin’s Chrome extension also shows the referral and FBA fees on the product page: from your own orders if you already sell the product, otherwise from Amazon’s own fee estimate. When Amazon gives no FBA fee it says “unknown”, never zero. Details on the Amazon FBA profit calculator page.
- After you sell: Amazon posts every order’s fees to its financial records. Once your store is connected, VeraMargin takes each order’s referral and FBA fees from those records. Until Amazon posts them, the order shows “≈”: its fees are estimated from the product’s last settled sale or, for a first sale, from Amazon’s own fee estimate.
Selling on amazon.com.tr?
The rates in this guide are amazon.com’s. amazon.com.tr has its own referral rates, VAT and promotions; the current table is on Amazon Turkey’s fees page. VeraMargin’s extension and Product analysis don’t cover amazon.com.tr. If you plan to sell on amazon.com from Turkey, start with our guide to how FBA works.
